Hi All! As promised, a second post regarding our emergency hospital visit last Novemeber 2019.

After coming home from the hospital, I got to thinking about creating a “gift bag/basket” type things that could be given to moms or dads who are encountering unplanned hospital stays with their little ones. I haven’t gotten around to actually getting this done yet BUT I do have suggestions, based off my experience, of what to put in one. So here it goes…

A small notebook to keep track of Doctor’s and Nurse’s names, medical terms, times of procedures, medications given, etc...

I would’ve loved to have something to write down all the information given to me during the various doctor’s visits and rounds. And to keep track of the names of doctors and nurses. It would be great to be able to remember the names of all the sweet people we encountered those few days but there was too much going on. If I had had a notebook to keep track of things it would’ve been awesome. I like something like this set from Amazon for a mom’s bag/basket.

Or maybe this set from Walmart. It’s not as pretty but still functional and something dads are more likely to use.

Pens for writing in the notebook.

These are my favorite pens! They come in black, blue, red, and a variety of other colors.

A pair of non-slip comfy socks!

Because it was fall/winter I had socks on but they didn’t have grips on the bottom and often times hospital floors can be slick. And the rooms can often feel chilly over night. A pair of non-slip socks would be great in a “comfort basket”!

These ones from Amazon are great either/or socks and can work for mom’s or dad’s!

Or these from Walmart…

Snacks

This one can be tricky. Not everyone likes the same thing and some folks have allergies. And there’s the downside of expiration dates. However, something to munch on without having to bother the nurses would have been great! Here’s a few of my favorites…

These craisins come in different flavors!

These craisins are the regular flavor

These look good too!

Crossword Puzzles, Word Searches, Sudoku Puzzles, Adult Coloring Books

Anything to occupy the mind during tests being done or while little one is sleeping.

Almost forgot, highlighters for the word search!

Also, a small bag with toiletries would be super helpful! Something like this from Amazon would be a nice size bag to add a few things to.

Here’s one that’s a little less girly for the guys…

If you have a Thirty One Gifts consultant, they have a few nice things that are similar. If you don’t have a Thirty One Gifts consultant, here’s a link to my consultant’s page! Sometimes you can get some amazing deals on their zipper pouches.

I’d add the following items into both pouches

  • travel toothbrush
  • travel toothpaste
  • travel size shampoo & conditioner
  • travel size body wash
  • chapstick/lip balm

Then for mom pouches I would add a few different size pads for those just in case moments. I knew my period was coming up but the stress of everything made me lose track of time so it was a surprise when it did come. Thankfully I always keep a some pads in my diaper bag, I wasn’t very heavy and we came home that next afternoon.

Well, this is my list so far. I’m sure there’s more that could be added! I’d love for you to share your ideas! Reply below with your suggestions!
